Puma Blue is the alias of South Londoner Jacob Allen, his sound blending downtown jazz sax lines with J Dilla grooves and a heart-wrenching vocal akin to Jeff Buckley and Billie Holliday. This blend intertwines with Jacob’s punk grit and the ferocity of his live performances, backed by a tight four-piece band, spewing out tortured love songs and sensual rhythms topped by his haunting falsetto vocals.
2017 has seen the release of debut EP Swum Baby as well as support slots with Mr Jukes, Jordan Rakei and Nick Hakim and festival appearances at Montreal Jazz Festival and Pitchfork Avante-Garde. With the announcement of a first UK headline tour in February, 2018 is shaping up to bring even bigger things.
